Program


The 2016 EWAM took place from 22nd to 26th February 2016 in Kenya, supported by Nema, Dell, Empa, Umicore and the World Resources Forum. EWAM 2016 had a regional focus on Africa.

Each day comprised expert presentations about a daily topic and group work. Topics included the global perspective of e-waste, its health dimension and access to global recycling markets, e-waste recycling technologies and successful operations, standards and their enforcement.

A study tour to the e-waste processing facility WEEE Centre and a dismantling session at the Centre completed the program.

During the group work, participants were assigned to work out an e-waste solution for selected countries, based on the daily lectures and assignments.

Mr. Norbert Zonneveld is currently the Executive Secretary of the European Electronics Recycling Association (EERA) since 2004. Among others, he has worked as the CEO of MIREC, part of the waste services division of SUEZ, the French-quoted conglomerate. Mr. Zonneveld holds a M.Sc., Biology and Business Administration, from the Wageningen University and Erasmus University. His organization is based in The Netherlands.
